Shiatsu for Pregnancy + Postpartum
Shiatsu is a Japanese massage therapy based on traditional Chinese medicine, beneficial during pregnancy, childbirth, and after birth. It helps with common issues in this life stage while encouraging calmness, self-awareness, and bonding with the baby. The energy of the mother and child is considered to be ‘as one’ until the child is 9 months old, and regular Shiatsu positively impacts both. It links the mind and body, helping prepare for a calm birth experience. Treatments are performed over loose clothing on a comfortable surface, making it a safe and personalised approach tailored to your needs.
Shiatsu for Pregnancy & Postpartum is known to assist with:
Relief from stress and anxiety
Preparing the body, mind and spirit for birth & beyond
Improving sleep
Digestive issues
Releasing endorphins
Muscular pain, including back and hip complaints
Promoting relaxation and feelings of calmness
Reducing swelling
Regulating blood pressure
Enhancing circulation.
“I was feeling very stressed and tired, at 7 months pregnant.
As always is the case with Natalie’s treatments, I left feeling so much lighter, brighter and more aligned with bubs!
I couldn’t recommend Natalie anymore, for treatment at any time but particularly when pregnant.”
Acupressure Massage
A massage for relaxation, stress relief, and pain relief from aches, injuries, and discomfort. Acupressure Massage focuses on pressure points for healing and includes various techniques, joint movements, and stretching. It uses deep-tissue pressure from thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, knees, and feet, with 'Barefoot Shiatsu' techniques for walking on the back when suitable. The session is performed through loose clothing on a futon, massage table, or a comfortable space. This safe and adaptable treatment is customised to meet your specific needs.
Acupressure Massage is known to assist the body with:
Muscular pain and tension
Reducing stress and anxiety
Improving blood and lymph circulation
Increasing range of motion
Increasing flexibility
Recovering from injury
Reducing swelling
Releasing endorphins - ‘feel good hormones.’
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is ideal for people who enjoy a firmer style of massage or experience persistent muscular tension, stiffness, or the physical effects of stress.
Skilled touch and appropriately applied pressure influence the nervous system, helping to reduce the sensation of pain, ease protective muscle tension, and encourage the body to move into a calmer, more regulated state.
Every treatment is tailored to you. For some people, firmer pressure feels grounding and reassuring, while others respond better to a gentler approach. Rather than believing that "deeper is more effective", we work with your body's preferences to create a treatment that feels both effective and comfortable.
Your session may include slow, focused massage techniques, movement, stretching, and positional changes to support comfort and improve ease of movement. Providing your nervous system with the right sensory input to help you feel less restricted, more relaxed, and more at home in your body.
Deep Tissue Massage may be beneficial if you:
Prefer a firmer pressure massage
Feel physically tense or stiff
Are recovering from training or repetitive physical activity
Spend long periods sitting or working at a desk
Experience stress-related muscle tension
Want to improve comfort and freedom of movement
Each session is adapted to your individual needs, ensuring the pressure and techniques used are appropriate for your body.
